In the Name of God Amen

 

I James Croasdale of Elterwater Hall Hoop maker

being of sound mind and memory blessed be to God

for it do hereby make this my last will and

Testament in the manner and Form Following

First I recommend my soul to God who Gave it

and my Body to the earth to be decently Interred

as my Executors hereinafter named thinks most Proper

and for my worldly Estate and Effectts which I shall

be Possessed at the time of my Death I give and

bequeath the same as followeth, that is to say, To

my Brother Henry Croasdale of Elingarth Hoop

maker William Croasdale of Broughton Chairmaker

and Isaac Croasdale Ellingarth Hoop maker, all my

Estate real and Personly Bonds Notes securities etc that

I shall be possessed of to be divided equally amongst them

Share and share alike except to Jackson Croasdale of

Hawkshead and John Croasdale of Hawkshead Shoomaker

the sum of Ten Pounds sterling "each" to be Paid by my Executor

when they arrive at the Age of twenty one years if any

thing remain after all expences concerning my Effects

has been paid and I appoint my Brothers Henry

William and Isaac to be my Executors of this my

Last will and Testament Paying my Funeral and all

other expences, and do declare this to be my Last will

and Testament In Witness whireof I have hereunto set

my Hand and seal this 16th Day of October and the year

of our Lord one Thousand eight Hundred and sixteen in

the Presence of

On the ("seventh" crossed out) seventeenth day of April in the year of our Lord one

thousand eight hundred and seventeen this Will of

James Croasdale late of Elterwater Hall in the Parish of

Grassmere in the County of Westmoreland within

the Archdeaconry of Richmond in the Diocese of

Chester Hoop-maker, who departed this life on or about

the tenth day of december one thousand eight hundred

and Sixteen- was proved in common form and Henry

Croasdale of Elingarth in the Parish of Colton in the

County of Lancaster & Archdeaconry aforesaid Hoop-maker

one of the Executors therein named was sworn well

and faithfully to execute and perform the same amd

so forth (Power being reserved for William Croasdale of

Broughton ("in" crossed out) Chairmaker and ("Elingarth" crossed out) James sic

Croasdale of Elingarth aforesaid Hoopmaker,

two other of the Executors in the said Will named

and so forth) - and that to the best of his know

-ledge, information and belief, the whole of the

goods, chattels and credits of which the said "Testator" James

Croasdale died possessed within the Archdeaconry

aforesaid (exclusive of what the Testator might

have been possessed as a Trustee for any other

person or persons and not beneficially, and without

deducting any thing on account of the Debts due

and owing, by and from the said Testator) were

under the value of one hundred and thirty

pounds
