DEATH OF MR JAMES CROASDELL

We learn with regret of the death of Mr James Croasdell of Violet Bank, Hawkshead, formerly of Plumpton Hall Farm, Ulverston, at the advanced age of 77 years. Mr Croasdell sustained a chill a fortnight previously and death resulted on Monday last. Deceased took Plumpton farm at a time when he was warned that it could not be made to pay, but he thought differently, and the result showed his prevision, for after getting the land into good heart he farmed to profit and retired on a nice competence. He was one of the best of agriculturists, his motto being to have the best of everything he could procure on the farm, and his live stocks took many prizes at the local shows. A kind husband and father, a true neighbour and friend, he was a man who won the esteem of all whom he came in contact with, and we think he never made an enemy during his long, honourable, and useful life.
