Thomas Henry Croasdale and Jane Rigg
Thomas Henry Croasdale was the youngest son of James Croasdell and Eleanor Coward. He was born at Haverthwaite on 15 April 1871 and baptised there on 14th May. He was born about 2 weeks after the 1871 census was taken and for the next 3 census years in 1881, 1891 and 1901 he was living with his parents, and various brothers and sisters, at the family farm in Haverthwaite. On the 30th April 1902 he married Jane Rigg at St Luke's Church, Lowick. Jane's family came from Lowick (Lancashire) and she was born there on 22 January 1875. 
Thomas & Jane set up home nearby at Crake Side, Sparkbridge where they farmed. 
There is a splendid photo of Thomas with his prize bull.
Thomas died, aged 71, on 3 February 1943 at Crake Side and was buried at Lowick
Jane died at Crake Side, Sparkbridge on 21 June 1949 at the age of 74 and was also buried at Lowick. She left a will naming her son and daughter as executors
Thomas and Jane had twins, a boy and a girl. As they have living descendants, information has been kept to a minimum on current generations but may be expanded or illustrated if the families wish.
- Eleanor 1903 - 1963
- Born 11 March 1903 at Haverthwaite and baptised there on 19 April
- Married Christopher Townson Hayton on 27 June 1931 at Haverthwaite
- Christopher started his own business in Kendal as an agricultural engineer and this continues to be run today by his son and grandson
- Eleanor died in 1963 and Christopher in 1972 and both are buried at Lowick
- Their two children are Margaret and Geoffrey.
- Margaret married Russell Hellier and they have been very helpful in providing information and photos for this web site. They have two daughters and 4 grandchildren
- Geoffrey married Sheila Jackson and they have two sons

John Coward 1903 - 1984
- Born 11 March 1903 at Haverthwaite and baptised there on 19 April
- Married Mary Casson on April 29 at Colton Church. Mary came from Oxen Park, where she was born on 3 Aug 1904 (She was baptised at Colton). Her father was the village Blacksmith and her mother the Post Mistress
- They farmed at Crake Side for about 35 years before retiring to Ulverston
- John died on 14 October 1984 at Longlands, Town Bank Terrace, Ulverston and was buried at Lowick
- Mary died in Ulverston Hospice on 21 February 1991 and was also buried at Lowick
- John & Mary had two daughters: Dorothy died young; Anne Christine married Harold Ogden in Ulverston and they have two daughters and two grandchildren. Anne and Harold have also very kindly assisted in providing family details
